Forbes Dunlop has been appointed as CEO of sportscotland. Dunlop, an experienced sports administrator, has been the grassroots sport agency’s Chief Operating Officer since 2019.

He steps into the role with immediate effect, replacing Stewart Harris, who stood down as CEO late last year after more than 16 years in the role.

Dunlop started his career working in local government, then moved to sportscotland in 2003 holding various positions over a 10-year period. In 2013 he was appointed CEO of Scottish Swimming, where he spent six years. During his career, he has also served as a non-executive director on the board of the British Paralympic Association.

“This is an incredibly important period for Scottish sport,” Dunlop said.

“There are many exciting opportunities that lie ahead along with a number of significant challenges and it goes without saying that collaboration will be central to our continued success. I will be reaching out to our local and national partners over the coming weeks as we embark on a new chapter for Scotland’s world-class sporting system.”
