Parkwood Leisure takes over National Outdoor Centre for Wales

Leisure facility management company Parkwood Leisure has taken over the operations of Plas Menai, the National Outdoor Centre for Wales. The new contract will see Parkwood Leisure take on the day-to-day running of the Centre for an initial 10-year period.

The buildings and land will continue to be owned by Sport Wales and all existing staff will remain employed at the site.As part of the agreement, a strategic partnership group – comprising representatives from Sport Wales, Parkwood Leisure, and staff at Plas Menai – has been set up to focus on growing and enhancing the current services, and supporting staff with the transition.

Graham Williams, Sport Wales Director, said: “Plas Menai is important to Sport Wales, the sector and the local community.

“It is a world-renowned facility and provider of outdoor activities with proud and passionate staff. I have no doubt that the additional expertise that Parkwood Leisure brings will lead to more people enjoying all that Plas Menai has to offer.”
