SAPCA Awards 2024 finalists revealed

The Sports and Play Construction Association is delighted to announce the finalists for the SAPCA Awards 2024. The finalists in the six categories reflect the new focus of the awards: to highlight the importance of high-quality sports and play construction to those who benefit from it the most – the people and communities who are the end users of the facilities that our members help design and build.

The finalists are:

SAPCA Person of the Year

Jamie Blamire, Director, Sportex Group
Mark Waite, Sales Director, TigerTurf

SAPCA Young Person of the Year

Connor Freeman, Shift Supervisor, TigerTurf
Thomas Ray, Project Manager, Midstream Lighting

Large Sports or Play Project of the Year (over £350k)

Sports Labs – FAREPlay Stepford Community Sports & Leisure Park, Glasgow
Blakedown Sport and Play – Shoreditch Park Sports Hub, Hoxton, Hackney, London

Small Sports or Play Project of the Year (under £350k)

Playinnovation – Silwood Street Ball Court Zone and Pocket Park Play Area
Synthetic Turf Management – MUGA construction – Lancing Preparatory School, Hove

Product of the Year

Lumosa – Lumosa Touch (app-based floodlight control system)
Redexim – Verti-Top TTB (maintenance equipment innovation)

Sustainability Award

Lumosa – Lumosa Touch (app-based floodlight control system)
Redexim – Verti-Top TTB (maintenance equipment innovation)

Commenting on the finalists, SAPCA chief executive, Richard Shaw, said: “We want to thank all member companies that submitted entries for the SAPCA Awards 2024. There was a large number of submissions and the judging panel had a tough task of picking the finalists from a very strong field.

“The SAPCA Awards 2024 highlight the social value generated by the facilities our members create. The awards also show how choosing a SAPCA member for a facility project ensures that – as well as always meeting technical and quality standards – the projects deliver a positive impact in communities.”

The winners will be announced at the SAPCA Awards Dinner on 29 February, which will take place after the SAPCA Conference held at the Mattioli Woods Welford Road stadium in Leicester.
