The SAPCA Code of Practice for the Construction and Maintenance of Fencing Systems has now been published and is available to download from the Sports and Play Construction Association (SAPCA) website. It is one of a suite of codes of practices published by the association, which can be used as a resource and guide by companies and organisations looking to build fit-for-purpose sports facilities.

First released in 2006, the fencing code of practice has been enhanced and updated to reflect the latest guidance – and to include the latest fencing products and solutions. Among the key changes made to the updated document include a focus on the fencing types and specifications. This is a move away from the previous approach of listing individual sports and then detailing the fencing types used.

The code has three main sections: a general introduction to fencing products used at sporting facilities; a section highlighting the technical specifications of the different fencing types; and a section detailing of the level of maintenance required for fencing.

SAPCA’s codes of practice summarise the current requirements of installation and maintenance across a range of sports facility elements and include input from the relevant governing body and relevant standards where appropriate.
